According to SHO Kharkhoda, Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu, who has worked in several films, died in a road accident in Haryana on Tuesday, February 15. According to Haryana Police, Deep Sidhu died in a road accident after his car rammed into a stopped truck at Pipli Toll on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway around 9 pm. He was seriously injured and died on the way to the hospital.
In December 2020, a video of Sidhu speaking in English went viral, which brought him into limelight. Deep Sidhu was seen claiming to be a farmer and predicting that the performance of farmers would be a turning point in the geopolitics of not only India, but South Asia. According to Sidhu, these peasant protests were nothing more than “Inquilab” (revolution). Sidhu further cautioned the authorities, claiming that they were oblivious to the gravity of the situation and that the “kranti” (protest) would define the future geopolitics of the country and South Asia.
Last year, Sidhu made headlines when he took the responsibility of hoisting the Nishan Sahib at the Red Fort on Republic Day 2021 as part of a tractor rally organized by farmers protesting the Centre’s agricultural regulations.
According to the Delhi Police, they had electronic evidence that Sidhu carried out the incident by entering the Red Fort with supporters carrying sticks and flags. He was in jail for more than two months before being released on bail on April 17.
Sidhu’s family, originally from Udekaran village in Muktsar, had left the area in the 1980s. His father was a lawyer who worked in Giddarbaha. He started acting at the age of 31 and is best known for the film Jora 10 Numbariya (2017). When Sunny Deol ran for Parliament from Gurdaspur, Deep became famous in political circles due to the fact that he was Sunny Deol’s political secretary. However, he had strained relations with the Deol family.
